What Mini Skyline focuses on

Features

Mini Skyline turns a selected place into a printable terrain or city model with readable geometry, browser-local generation, and export metadata that stays with the file.

The feature set is built around printability, creative control, source transparency, and fast iteration before a slicer-ready 3MF download.

What you can build and customize

Shape the exact footprint

Select a movable, resizable, and rotatable rectangle, a circle, or an editable freeform polygon so the printable model follows the place you actually want to capture.

Detailed City tiles

Build a detailed Earth model up to 50 km² with terrain, buildings, roads, railways, paths, water, parks, beaches, runways, and other mapped features when the selected source data contains them.

Project Mode for larger city maps

Split an Earth City selection up to 500 km² into as many as 20 printable pieces, each no larger than 25 km², that share one physical scale; preview each piece locally and download the completed project as a ZIP.

Terrain tiles for wide-area relief

Use Terrain tile for Earth selections up to 25,000 km² focused on terrain, water, and surface colors without the building, transportation, GPX, tree, and custom-asset layers reserved for City workflows.

Browser-local generation

Browser Web Workers prepare source bundles, build the preview mesh, and write the 3MF on your device. There is no cloud render queue or restorable hosted model artifact.

Earth and planetary relief

Generate Earth terrain from Mapterhorn elevation with Terrarium/Mapzen fallback, or make terrain-only models of the currently selectable Moon, Mars, Mercury, and Vesta surfaces. Browse notable planetary locations and add printable markers where available.

Terrain-aware building controls

Use tagged or fallback heights, scale or cap tall buildings, filter unwanted footprints, and add optional terrain-following foundations for more reliable contact with uneven ground.

Mapped layers, water, and bridges

Tune transportation and surface materials independently, including Urban / Built-up land. Print water, cut it out, or treat it as land; explicitly tagged roads, paths, and railways over water can become raised printable bridge decks.

Custom buildings and linework

Draw missing building footprints with chosen story counts, or add printable Road, Path, Fence, and Custom lines with exact widths, heights, colors, and editable geometry.

Terrain painting

Override imported Earth terrain and water classifications with circular or square brushes or editable polygons while keeping the paint data in the browser and saved workspaces.

Printable GPX routes

Import a GPX file containing one or more tracks or routes, then control the printed width, height, and color used in Earth City and Project Mode models.

Printable contour lines

Add minor and index contours that follow the source relief, with automatic or custom spacing, metric or imperial display, and separate width, height, color, and simplification controls.

Dense printable tree systems

Choose Natural or Rows placement, detailed V2 or lightweight Micro tree assets, eligible terrain, density, and scale while collision rules protect buildings, roads, water, edges, and neighboring trees.

Frames and frame text

Add printable frames to rectangular selections, choose inward or outward placement and edge profiles, and optionally place raised or recessed text on each frame side.

Print scale and minimum-feature controls

Set the finished model dimensions or shared scale, exaggerate terrain relief, tune base thickness, and size roads, paths, railways, surface layers, and other details around real nozzle and line-width constraints.

Live preview and detailed tuning

Inspect the mesh before download and adjust model size, relief, base, water, layer visibility, material colors, feature dimensions, lighting, and print-oriented settings.

Multi-material, slicer-ready 3MF

Export geometry-preserving 3MF files with named semantic parts and material colors for AMS/MMU workflows, manual swaps, single-color printing, or slicer remapping.

Workspaces and color presets

Download or reopen a workspace containing the selection, settings, GPX, and custom content, recover the latest local autosave, or reuse a palette-only color preset without changing geometry.

Export-specific provenance and rights

Every 3MF carries source and attribution metadata. The export review reports the actual providers, commercial-use status, public-sharing status, conditions, and unresolved sources for that exact model.

Print-first mesh construction

Build terrain, bases, water, side walls, foundations, and feature geometry as printable solids designed for slicers rather than as a view-only 3D scene.
