13 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Long, narrow platform roofs
Several thin roofs run out behind the building over the platforms. Print friendly adapts these slim canopies to the print scale, while Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print.
- A dome, a tower and small cupolas
A big dome, a clock tower and a line of small cupolas crown the roofline. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm and a slower print speed help these small domed parts stay crisp.
- One piece with the ground
Flinders Street Station is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Flinders Street Station takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Flinders Street Station
In Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Flinders Street station sits where Flinders and Swanston streets meet, with St Paul's Cathedral and Federation Square close by. Its rear faces the Yarra River, and it sits in the city's central business district. The first station on the site opened in 1854, and this station, though not today's building, is the oldest in Australia. With 13 platforms, the complex spreads across more than two city blocks.
The current building was completed in 1909. Its design grew out of a competition, and H. P. C. Ashworth and James Fawcett, who worked for the railways, took the £500 first prize in 1900. The Railways Commissioners modified the plans in 1904, mid-construction, adding a fourth story, and building work on the station itself started in 1905 under Ballarat builder Peter Rodger. The builders chose red brick, trimmed with cement render, over stone, which was judged too costly. Gray granite from Harcourt appears in many ground-level details.
The station is an Edwardian design with a prominent dome, an arched entrance, a tower and clocks, and it is described as one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. In Melbourne, people arrange to meet "under the clocks", meaning the indicator clocks above the main entrance, each of which shows the next departure on its line. The alternative is to meet "on the steps", meaning the broad stairs under them. A popular myth says the design was meant for Mumbai's Victoria Terminus and swapped in the post.
