15 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Cupola towers and dome spire
The two front towers end in small cupolas with crosses, and the dome carries a tall thin spire. Print slowly with good cooling, and use Print friendly to adapt the thin tips to the print scale.
- Smooth domes and long roof
The domes are rounded and the main roof is long. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep the curved surfaces smooth, with less visible stepping.
- One piece with the ground
Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral
Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral is the Archdiocese of Santiago's seat and the Catholic Church's main temple in Chile. It stands in the commune of Santiago, facing the Plaza de Armas, and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary's Assumption. With the Archbishop's Palace and the Parish del Sagrario it forms an architectural ensemble, and all of these buildings are considered national monuments.
Construction ran from 1748 to 1906, to designs by Joaquín Toesca and Ignacio Cremonesi. It is the fifth temple built on the site, and earthquakes in 1647 and 1657 and a fire on December 22, 1769 hit its predecessors. Pedro Vogl and Juan Hagen, two Jesuits of Bavarian origin, drew the plans for the new cathedral, and its first stone was laid on July 1, 1748. From 1779 the Italian architect Toesca directed the construction and imposed the Neoclassical style.
In 1840 Pope Gregory XVI made the building a Metropolitan Cathedral, raising the see of Santiago to archiepiscopal rank. Archbishop Mariano Casanova later brought in Ignacio Cremonesi, and building resumed in 1898. Cremonesi drew on a Tuscan or Roman style and added two towers to the façade. Casanova consecrated the modified temple on May 5, 1906. The main temple has three naves and is 45 meters wide and about 100 meters long, covering about 4500 square meters.
