124 m of the Fairmont Royal York, 34 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A steep roof above a tall block
The hotel is crowned by a steep pitched roof, and its dormers are small features beside the bulk of the block. Full detail keeps details like these for a larger print; Print friendly adapts them at smaller sizes.
- Tall, flat walls
The building is a tall block, so any wobble in the walls shows. Print slowly with cooling on, and use layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm to keep the window rows clean.
- One piece with the ground
The Fairmont Royal York is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Fairmont Royal York takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Fairmont Royal York
The Fairmont Royal York is a large historic hotel on Front Street West, at the southern edge of Toronto's Financial District in Ontario, Canada. Ross and Macdonald designed it, working with Sproatt and Rolph, and the Canadian Pacific Railway built it. It opened on June 11, 1929. Shortly after Canadian Pacific acquired the property, the company announced that it would demolish the Queen's Hotel on the site and put up a new hotel there. It is considered one of Canada's grand railway hotels.
The Châteauesque hotel stands 124 meters (407 ft) high and has 28 floors, with an exterior of Indiana limestone wrapped around a steel frame. A row of pointed arches runs along the third story, a small peaked roof with its tiny dormers sits at the top, and griffin-shaped grotesques stand at various corners. When the work was finished, the hotel was briefly the highest building in Toronto, in Canada and in the British Empire, until the Canadian Bank of Commerce Tower was finished a year later.
Its first major renovation came in 1972, and several extensive ones have followed. It is joined to Union Station and to the Royal Bank Plaza by an underground walkway that forms part of Toronto's PATH network. On the fourteenth floor, a roof herb garden supplies the hotel's restaurants with fresh herbs, vegetables and flowers.
