  1. Long wings and dome

The palace is broad and low, with long wings either side of a central dome. A larger print keeps the roofline and dome distinct; 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers help the roof edges.

  2. One piece with the ground

The New Palace, Potsdam is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The New Palace, Potsdam takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the New Palace, Potsdam

The New Palace stands on the western side of Sanssouci park in Potsdam, Germany. Work began in 1763 under Frederick the Great, after the Seven Years' War, and was finished in 1769. It is considered the last great Prussian Baroque palace. Frederick used it less as a home than as a setting for receiving important royals and dignitaries.

Of the more than 200 rooms, four main reception rooms and a theater served royal functions, balls and state occasions. Johann Gottfried Büring and Heinrich Ludwig Manger were first assigned to plan the palace; after disagreements over the design, Carl von Gontard took over the work in 1764. The three-wing building is crowned by a dome topped by the Three Graces, who hold the crown of Prussia, and more than 400 sandstone statues and figures decorate the palace and its outbuildings.

Inside, the Marble Hall rises through two floors beneath the copper dome. Its ceiling painting covers 240 square meters and is the largest painting of its kind on canvas north of the Alps. The theater in the south wing opened on July 18, 1768. It has no royal box; Frederick sat in the third row with the other guests.
