About the Scotiabank Centre

Scotiabank Centre, which opened as the Halifax Metro Centre, is Atlantic Canada's largest multi-purpose facility, in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. Its main entrances run along Brunswick Street, by the corner of Duke and Carmichael streets, below Citadel Hill, and the box office entrance is on Carmichael Street. The arena opened on February 17, 1978. The building is set into the ground, which offsets the steep elevation of its site, and during an event, cars at street level outside are visible to spectators.

Scotiabank's naming-rights win was announced on June 25, 2014, and the Metro Centre was renamed. The renamed building officially opened on September 19, 2014. Renovations in the mid to late 1990s included 11 Executive Suites and 43 SkyBoxes. Bright orange seats originally encircled the lower bowl, and navy blue ones replaced them later. The seating capacity is 10,595 for ice hockey.

The arena has set several box office records. An Ozzy Osbourne concert in December 2007 sold out in nine minutes, and in July 2008 tickets for a pair of back-to-back Elton John shows in late September sold 25,000 in 40 minutes. In May 2013, Game 5 of the QMJHL Presidents Cup final sold out in 11 minutes, another record. The building also ties into the Downtown Halifax Link system.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 10 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 12 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 16 mm 1:2,344

A broad, sloped roof
The wide roof slopes in several planes down to the walls. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the sloped edges and ridge lines sharp.
Fine bands on the lower walls
Narrow bands of windows and columns mark the lower walls on some sides. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print or a fine nozzle.
One piece with the ground
The Scotiabank Centre is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Scotiabank Centre takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The Scotiabank Centre is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Scotiabank Centre STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Scotiabank Centre grows with the print: about 10 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
