8 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Domed bell towers
Each tower ends in a small dome with a thin cross on top. Print friendly strengthens the cross; Full detail keeps it as modeled. Slow printing and cooling help the tips.
- Ridged roof surfaces
The long roof is covered in fine parallel ridges. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps them crisp, and printing larger keeps them distinct rather than blurred.
- One piece with the ground
St. Mary's Basilica is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. St. Mary's Basilica takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About St. Mary's Basilica
St. Mary's Basilica, formally the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, is a Roman Catholic church in Phoenix, Arizona. Construction ran from 1902 to 1914, and the design blends Mission Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival influences. Dedication followed in 1915. It replaced an adobe church from 1881, the year the parish was founded. Pope John Paul II raised it to the status of minor basilica.
Among Catholic parish churches in the Phoenix area, it is the oldest. No other parish existed in Phoenix before 1924. The basilica has Arizona's largest collection of stained glass windows, and a pipe organ of 26 ranks built by the Schantz Organ Company.
Four domes span the length of the building. The one over the crossing carries a lantern, and the one over the altar carries a cupola, both to bring in light. Two bell towers end in onion-shaped domes, a form typical of Bavaria and Austria, where the pastor Novatus Benzing and architectural consultant Leonard Darscheid both came from. Emil Frei Art Glass Company, a firm from St. Louis, made all the stained glass, and Theodore Kuntz of Cleveland made the oak woodwork and pews.
