Earth map generator

Make a 3D printed map of any place

Mini Skyline turns any place on Earth into a 3D printable map: a city with its real buildings and streets, a neighborhood, or a terrain relief of mountains and valleys. Choose the area on the map, check the 3D preview, and export a slicer-ready core 3MF.

How to 3D print a map

  1. Search for a place or move the map to it.
  2. Draw the area to print: a rectangle, a circle, or a freeform outline.
  3. Pick City tile for streets and buildings or Terrain tile for mountains and coastlines, set the print size, and press Generate.
  4. Check the 3D preview and adjust heights, base, and colors.
  5. Export the 3MF and open it in your slicer, such as Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, or PrusaSlicer.
  6. Give each part its own filament (land, water, roads, parks, and buildings) or print the whole map in one color.
  7. Slice and print. A smaller layer height brings out more building and terrain detail.
  • Draw the exact footprint you want to print: a rectangle, a circle, or a freeform outline.
  • Generate city maps with mapped buildings, roads, water, parks, and terrain, or terrain relief for larger areas.
  • Use Project Mode to split a large map into coordinated printable pieces.
  • Preview and export locally in the browser as a slicer-ready core 3MF.

City maps with real buildings

City maps use mapped building footprints and heights, roads, railways, paths, water, and parks from open map data, set on real terrain. Each feature becomes its own named part, so a downtown, a campus, or your own street prints the way it is laid out.

Terrain relief maps

Terrain tile turns larger areas, such as a mountain range, a national park, a coastline, or a lake, into a relief map with water and surface colors and without city-only layers. The same generator also makes terrain models of the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Ceres, and Vesta.

Built for physical output

Controls for model scale, relief, base thickness, feature widths, frames, colors, and details help turn map data into a practical print rather than a model that only looks right on screen.

A multicolor 3MF for your slicer

The export is a core 3MF that keeps land, water, roads, parks, and buildings as separate named parts with their own colors. The same file works for multicolor printing or for a single filament, and every current slicer opens it.

Runs in your browser

The preview and the 3MF are built on your own device by the browser, with no account and nothing to install. The app still loads map and elevation data over the network.

Source-aware exports

The 3MF includes attribution and source provenance instead of redistributing raw map or building datasets.

Common questions

Is the 3D printable map generator free?

Yes. Mini Skyline needs no account and no payment to generate, preview, or export a map.

What kinds of maps can I make printable?

City and neighborhood maps with buildings and roads, terrain relief maps of larger areas on Earth, and terrain models of supported planetary bodies such as the Moon and Mars.

Can Earth models include buildings and roads?

Yes. City tile and Project Mode can include available buildings, roads, water, parks, paths, railways, and terrain.

Can I make a terrain-only Earth model?

Yes. Terrain tile focuses larger Earth selections on terrain, water, and surface colors without city-only layers.

Can I preview the printable map before exporting?

Yes. Mini Skyline generates a 3D preview so you can check the model before downloading a printable 3MF file.

Can I download an STL instead?

Not directly. Mini Skyline exports 3MF only, because 3MF keeps the named parts, material colors, attribution, and source provenance that an STL file cannot carry. Every current slicer imports a 3MF the same way it imports an STL. If another tool needs an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it as STL there; the part names, colors, and license bundle do not survive that conversion.
