344 m of 875 North Michigan Avenue, 122 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Protect the twin antenna masts
Two tall, slender masts rise above the roof. Choose Print friendly to adapt them at smaller sizes, and print slowly with cooling as the slicer reaches these thin parts.
- Preserve the exterior bracing
Diagonal X-shaped braces and fine vertical lines cover the tower’s faces. A larger print with Full detail retains every modeled feature; a layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm helps keep the facade detail crisp.
- One piece with the ground
875 North Michigan Avenue is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 875 North Michigan Avenue takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About 875 North Michigan Avenue
875 North Michigan Avenue, also known as the John Hancock Center, stands in Chicago’s Magnificent Mile district. The skyscraper has 100 stories and rises 344 meters (1,128 feet), or 457 m (1,500 feet) to its antenna tips. At Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, chief designer Bruce Graham worked with structural engineer Fazlur Rahman Khan on the building. The structural expressionist design places X-shaped bracing on the exterior, making the outer skin part of the tower’s tubular structural system.
John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company financed the project and became its namesake and an original tenant. The tower reached its full structural height on May 6, 1968. In 2018, the insurer requested removal of its name, and the building was renamed for its street address. It holds offices and roughly 700 condominiums. The 360 Chicago observatory provides views across the city. Its TILT attraction is a moving platform that tilts visitors outward at a 30-degree angle.
