About BK Arena

BK Arena, which was known as Kigali Arena until its name changed on May 24, 2022, is an indoor arena in Kigali, Rwanda, beside the Amahoro Stadium. It is mostly used for basketball and volleyball matches, and it also hosts concerts and conferences. Rwanda Basketball League games are played there regularly. No indoor arena in East Africa is bigger, and its capacity is 10,000. The new name followed a six-year sponsorship deal with the Bank of Kigali.

SUMMA, a Turkish international contractor, built the arena. The Rwandan government and the Turkish firm Summa worked together on it, with the Rwanda Housing Authority supervising construction. Work began in January 2019, with roughly 1,000 to 2,000 people on shifts by day and by night. By mid-June 2019 it was at least 70 percent done, and it was finished in July 2019. The opening event on August 9, 2019, was a basketball match pitting Patriots BBC against REG BBC, attended by Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

Events at the arena have included AfroBasket 2021, the 2021 African Nations Volleyball Championships and FIBA's 2019 African championship for women under 16. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it hosted the entire 2021 regular season of the Basketball Africa League's inaugural edition, and it hosted the league's playoffs in 2022 and 2023. The 73rd FIFA Congress took place there on March 16, 2023.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 8 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 10 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 13 mm 1:2,344

A patterned band
A band of geometric motifs runs around the upper wall. Print friendly adapts these fine patterns to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print.
Wide roof, slim columns
A wide, flat roof disc sits on the drum, and slim columns ring the base. Printing slowly and using layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm help the roof edge and columns stay clean.
One piece with the ground
BK Arena is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. BK Arena takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

BK Arena is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a BK Arena STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. BK Arena grows with the print: about 8 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
