About One World Trade Center

In Lower Manhattan, New York City, One World Trade Center (also called One WTC) is the principal tower of the rebuilt World Trade Center. The site covers 16 acres (6.5 ha), and the tower occupies its northwest corner, between West Street, Vesey Street, Fulton Street and Washington Street. David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed it as a symmetrical tower that tapers on its upper floors. No other building in the United States or the Western Hemisphere is taller.

Work on the foundations began on April 27, 2006. On April 30, 2012, the tower passed the Empire State Building to become New York City's tallest structure, and its steel structure topped out on August 30, 2012. Once the last piece of the spire was in place on May 10, 2013, it stood at 541 m (1,776 ft), a figure in feet that nods to 1776, the year the Declaration of Independence was signed. The tower opened on November 3, 2014, and the One World Observatory followed on May 29, 2015.

The building shares its name with the original World Trade Center's North Tower, destroyed on September 11, 2001. Its colloquial name was the Freedom Tower, but in 2009 the Port Authority confirmed that the legal name, One World Trade Center, would be the official one. It has 94 stories, and its top floor is numbered 104. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum lies just south of it, where the original Twin Towers stood.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 145 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 182 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 232 mm 1:2,344

A needle-thin spire
A very slender spire rises from the ring at the top. Print the tip slowly with good cooling, and use 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers to keep it crisp. Print friendly adapts it to the print scale.
Tall, narrow tapering shaft
The tower is far taller than it is wide, with angled facets that taper toward the top. A larger print size keeps those facets and the crown ring distinct; at small sizes the spire matters most.
One piece with the ground
One World Trade Center is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. One World Trade Center takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

One World Trade Center is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a One World Trade Center STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. One World Trade Center grows with the print: about 145 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
