About Kigali
Kigali is both the capital and largest city of Rwanda and one of its five provinces. It lies close to the geographic center of the country, among rolling hills whose valleys and ridges are linked by steep slopes. In 1907 the colonial resident Richard Kandt picked this site for his headquarters because of its central position, views and security, and the German outpost that grew there became Rwanda's capital when the country gained independence in 1962. The city counted 1,745,555 inhabitants on August 31, 2022. It has three districts: Gasabo, Kicukiro and Nyarugenge. The president's residence and offices and most government ministries are here.
The central business district is on Nyarugenge Hill, where Kandt founded the original city, and sits toward the west side of the city's built-up area; terrain to the east proved better for the expanding city than Mount Kigali's high slopes to the west. Several of the country's tallest buildings are in the district, among them the 20-story Kigali City Tower. The suburb of Nyamirambo, southwest of the business district, was settled second: the Belgian colonial government developed it in the 1920s for civil servants and Swahili traders. Much of the city was rebuilt after the genocide of 1994.

Common questions
Are these Kigali landmark models free?
Yes. All 2 models on this page are free. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
Can I download Kigali landmark STL files?
Mini Skyline builds each file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How tall do the Kigali landmarks print?
On the default 160 mm print they stand between about 8 and 14 mm tall. Each landmark grows with the print size, and Make this print opens the generator with its area already selected. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
