Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Dry-stone courses

The tower's surface is modeled as thin, irregular stone courses, and the top is an uneven wall walk around an open court. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm help keep the stone relief readable at small sizes.

  2. Narrow entrance and stair

The single western doorway and the intramural stair are small spaces cut through thick walls. Print friendly adapts these fine openings at small scales; a larger print keeps the passage and stair clearer.

  3. One piece with the ground

The Broch of Mousa is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Broch of Mousa takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Broch of Mousa

The Broch of Mousa is an Iron Age round tower that survives on Mousa, an island in Shetland, Scotland. No other broch still stands as tall, and it ranks among Europe's best-preserved prehistoric buildings. It is thought to date from around 300 BC, and it belongs to a group of more than 500 brochs raised across Scotland.

The tower stands on the island's western shore, overlooking Mousa Sound, the narrow channel between the island and the South Mainland of Shetland. Its base rests on flat rock at the tip of a low promontory by the shore, next to the tidal Loch of Mousa. Boats reach the island from Sandwick, which lies 14 miles (23 kilometers) south of Lerwick.

The tower reaches 13.3 meters (44 ft), and its only doorway is a passage at ground level on the west side. Inside, a stair climbs within the thickness of the wall to the top, and six galleries run between the inner and outer walls. The tower uses dry stone throughout, without mortar, and it is the only broch complete nearly to the top, including its original intramural stair.
