163 m of the Cathedral of Learning, 45 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Window tracery and piers
The pointed windows, branching tracery and deep stone piers are the finest details on the tower. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps every modeled opening.
- Crown rail and caps
The flat crown ends in bundled corner piers and an open ornamental rail. A larger print, or 0.12–0.16 mm layers, helps those small parts stay distinct.
- One piece with the ground
The Cathedral of Learning is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Cathedral of Learning takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Cathedral of Learning
The Cathedral of Learning, a 42-story skyscraper, anchors the University of Pittsburgh's main campus in Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Rising 163 m (535 ft), it is a Late Gothic Revival tower and holds the title of the tallest educational building anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. Only Moscow State University's main building is a taller university building.
The university commissioned the tower in 1921; construction began in 1926 with Stone & Webster as general contractor. The first class met there in 1931, the exterior was finished in October 1934 and the building was formally dedicated in June 1937. Its steel frame carries Indiana limestone cladding, and there are over 2,000 rooms and windows inside.
Students call it "Cathy." It serves as a classroom and administrative center and houses Pitt's Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences along with the School of Social Work and the Frederick Honors College, plus 31 Nationality Rooms and a four-story Gothic study and event hall. The National Register of Historic Places includes it.
