About Copenhagen City Hall

Copenhagen City Hall, called Københavns Rådhus in Danish, stands on City Hall Square in central Copenhagen. The Copenhagen City Council has its headquarters here, along with the Lord Mayor's office. It is Copenhagen's sixth city hall. Architect Martin Nyrop won the commission through an architectural competition, Vilhelm Fischer supervised the works, and construction ran from 1892 until the building was inaugurated on September 12, 1905.

Earlier city halls stood at or near Gammeltorv and Nytorv, about 500 m (1,600 ft) to the northeast of the present site. The third, in service from about 1479, stood until the great Copenhagen fire of 1728, and the fourth, in Baroque style, was lost to the Copenhagen fire of 1795. The fifth, completed in 1815 in Neoclassical style by Christian Frederik Hansen, was meant to serve as city hall and court house together. Rapid expansion made it inadequate by the late 19th century.

Nyrop's design is in the National Romantic style, drawing on the City Hall of Siena, Italy, for inspiration. A richly ornamented front, a gilded statue of Absalon above the balcony and a tall, slim clock tower dominate the building. In a city that is generally low, the tower, at 105.6 meters, is among the tallest buildings. Two wings, one along Vester Voldgade and the other along H.C. Andersens Boulevard, are joined by three transverse buildings that frame the covered Main Hall and an open-air garden, the City Hall Garden.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 29 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 37 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 47 mm 1:2,344

Slim clock tower and spire
The tall, slim clock tower ends in a pointed spire. Printing slowly with good cooling helps tall thin tips, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the spire crisp.
Gables, turrets and ornament
The roofline is crowded with small gables, turrets and ornament. Print friendly adapts these small parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print.
One piece with the ground
Copenhagen City Hall is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Copenhagen City Hall takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Copenhagen City Hall is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Copenhagen City Hall STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Copenhagen City Hall grows with the print: about 29 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
