33 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A tall tower
A tall tower needs clean vertical edges and a stable footprint. Slow the print for the upper floors, and use layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm to keep the facade crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Edificio España is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Edificio España takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Edificio España
The Edificio España, reopened in 2019 as the Hotel Riu Plaza España, is a Madrid skyscraper and hotel on Plaza de España, where Gran Vía reaches its western end. It opened in 1953 as a mixed-use complex with a hotel, offices, apartments and shops. Construction began in 1948 on a corner of the square and Calle de la Princesa, and the original Hotel Plaza opened in October 1953. The building is often given as 117 m (384 ft) tall, with 26 above-ground floors, though The Skyscraper Center records an architectural height of 107 m (351 ft).
José María Otamendi calculated the reinforced-concrete structure. Julián Otamendi drew the plans and designed the Baroque-inspired main entrance. Its silhouette steps up through four main levels, and the symmetrical front is about 150 m (490 ft) wide. The exterior combines Neo-Herrerian and Neo-Baroque features, and the interior decoration follows Art Deco conventions. Five deep open courtyards mark the rear elevation.
RIU Hotels & Resorts bought the property in 2017 and turned it into a hotel. The hotel reopened in August 2019 as a four-star property with 585 rooms, an upper-floor terrace, restaurants and meeting spaces. The building once held offices, apartments, a shopping center and a Crowne Plaza hotel. It was the tallest in Spain until the Torre de Madrid, another Otamendi design, surpassed it.
