About Golden 1 Center

In downtown Sacramento, California, United States, Golden 1 Center is a publicly owned indoor arena. Part of it stands on the former Downtown Plaza shopping center's site. It belongs to Downtown Commons (DoCo), a business and entertainment district with a 16-story mixed-use tower that cost $250 million. The arena took over from ARCO Arena as home to the Sacramento Kings, a National Basketball Association team, and also stages concerts, conventions and a range of other sports and entertainment events. For concerts the capacity can be expanded to about 19,000.

Construction began on October 29, 2014, with Turner Construction as construction manager. The Kings named the street that approaches the main entrance in honor of David Stern, a former NBA Commissioner; the official address is 500 David J. Stern Walk. Golden 1 Credit Union, based in Sacramento, acquired the naming rights on June 16, 2015 for $120 million over 20 years. Paul McCartney played the first concert there on October 4, 2016, the start of two nights on his One on One tour. The Kings played their first game there on October 10, 2016, a 135–96 preseason win over Maccabi Haifa B.C.

The design draws on regionally sourced materials, from glass to recycled aluminum to possibly precast concrete made with sand from San Benito and Sierra limestone, and uses only FSC-certified wood. A rooftop solar array generates up to 1.2 megawatts, and LEED Platinum certification followed in late September 2016. Artworks by Gale Hart, Phil America and other local artists, and by the internationally recognized artist Jeff Koons, were permanently installed.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 10 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 12 mm 1:3,000

Raised roof lettering
The arena's name is spelled across the roof in raised letters. Print friendly adapts thin lettering to your print scale; Full detail keeps it, and a larger print makes the letters clearer.
Fine ribs on the outer wall
Slim vertical ribs wrap the curved outer wall. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep them crisp.
One piece with the ground
Golden 1 Center is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Golden 1 Center takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Golden 1 Center is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Golden 1 Center STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Golden 1 Center grows with the print: about 10 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
