33 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Many small towers and steep roofs
Round towers, pointed roofs and turrets crowd the top of the ring wall. Print friendly adapts these small parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, best on a larger print with fine layers.
- Tall walls on a steep hill
The fortress sits on a steep, uneven slope with high retaining walls. A layer height of 0.12-0.16 mm keeps the stepped wall lines crisp, and slow printing helps the thin tower tops.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Hohensalzburg Fortress takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Hohensalzburg Fortress
Hohensalzburg Fortress, known in German as Festung Hohensalzburg, is a big medieval stronghold in Salzburg, Austria. It crowns a mountain called the Festungsberg, at an altitude of 506 m, and the prince-archbishops of Salzburg had it built. It extends 250 m (820 ft) in length with a width of 150 m (490 ft), so it counts among the largest medieval castles of Europe.
The present fortress dates its start to 1077, when Archbishop Gebhard von Helfenstein began it as a plain bailey with a timber wall. It was enlarged gradually over the centuries that followed. Burkhard II von Weißpriach, a prince-archbishop, had the ring walls and towers put up in 1462, and Prince-Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach added to it again from 1495 until 1519. The outer bastions were begun in the 16th century and finished in the 17th, as a precaution against fears of a Turkish invasion.
The fortress was besieged just once, in 1525 during the German Peasants' War, and was not taken. It was handed to French troops without a fight in 1800. In the 19th century it served as barracks, a storage depot and a dungeon, and it ceased to be a military outpost in 1861. A funicular railway, the Festungsbahn, opened in 1892 and runs up from the town. The Krautturm houses a large aerophone of more than 200 pipes, the "Salzburg Bull", built in 1502.
