About Johan Cruyff Arena

The Johan Cruyff Arena is the home stadium of the football club Ajax and the main stadium of Amsterdam, the Dutch capital. Construction ran from 1993 to 1996 and cost the equivalent of €140 million; it is the biggest stadium in the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix opened it officially on August 14, 1996, under the name Amsterdam Arena. When the 2018–19 football season began, it was renamed to honor Johan Cruyff, a Dutch footballer who died in 2016. Its original architect was the Dutchman Rob Schuurman.

The stadium pairs a retractable roof with a grass field, which caused trouble at first: grass struggled to grow in the shade under the open roof, and the turf had to be replaced 45 times during the first ten years. For football matches the capacity is 56,120, up from the original 54,990. The Ajax Museum inside the stadium covers more than 120 years of the club's history.

The 1998 UEFA Champions League final was played there, and the stadium was among the venues for UEFA Euro 2000, a semi-final included. For UEFA Euro 2020 it staged three group stage matches and one round-of-16 match, and it was also the site of the 2013 UEFA Europa League final. Three concerts by Tina Turner opened the stadium, and artists from the Netherlands and abroad have performed there since.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 23 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 29 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 36 mm 1:2,344

Arched roof trusses
Thin arched trusses and small masts cross the roof. Print friendly adapts these slender bars to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
A round bowl of curved tiers
The outer wall curves in stacked tiers. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep those curves smooth, and a larger print size gives the stepped rings more room.
One piece with the ground
Johan Cruyff Arena is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Johan Cruyff Arena takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
