16 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Protect the pagoda's thin tip
The tiered pagoda ends in a slender tip above projecting roofs. Use Print friendly to adapt thin features to your print scale, and print slowly with cooling for the tip.
- Keep the small gateways legible
Narrow posts and small roof details appear among the shrine buildings. A larger print keeps these features visible; Full detail is better suited to that size.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Nikko Toshogu takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Nikko Toshogu
Nikko Toshogu is a Shinto shrine in Nikko, in Japan's Tochigi Prefecture. It is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, who founded the Tokugawa shogunate; his remains are buried at the shrine. The shrine dates to 1617, in the Edo period, when Ieyasu's son Hidetada ruled as shogun. It was later enlarged during the rule of the third shogun, Iemitsu. The UNESCO World Heritage property called Shrines and Temples of Nikkō includes Toshogu along with Rinnō-ji and Futarasan Shrine. The nomination included 42 structures from Toshogu.
Among the shrine's decorated buildings is Yōmeimon, a gate covered with deeply carved reliefs and rich paint colors. The nearby karamon gate has white ornamentation, and a carving called Nemuri-neko depicts a sleepy cat. The sacred horses' stable carries the three wise monkeys carving. A donor gave the original pagoda, with five stories, in 1650; after a fire destroyed it, a replacement was built in 1818. Its levels symbolize earth, water, fire, wind, and aether, from bottom to top. Inside, the central shinbashira pillar is suspended by chains to reduce earthquake damage.
