17 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Tall and narrow
The gate is a tall, narrow tower, so it rises quickly in the print. Slow the print down and keep cooling on so the shaft stays straight through its full height.
- Ornament at the top
The sculpture and moldings on the tower are its finest details. At 200 mm and above they hold up at Full detail; below that, Print friendly adapts them to your nozzle.
- One piece with the ground
The Powder Tower, Prague is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Powder Tower, Prague takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Powder Tower, Prague
The Powder Tower, or Powder Gate, stands in Prague, Czech Republic, and is Gothic in style. It is one of the 13 original gates of the Old Town, and it marks the boundary with the New Town. Work started in 1475, and the tower was meant to give the city an impressive entrance rather than to serve as a defensive work. Its appearance drew on Peter Parler's work on the Charles Bridge.
Vladislav II placed the foundation stone, and the city council gave him the tower to mark his coronation. During construction it went by the name New Tower. Riots forced the king to relocate, and the building work stopped. He came back in 1485 to live at Prague Castle, and kings used the tower for coronation processions again only from 1836, when they passed through it on their way to St. Vitus Cathedral.
The name is misleading: the gate never stored gunpowder. It was badly damaged in the Battle of Prague, and in 1876, during a reconstruction led by Josef Mocker, the sculptures on it were replaced and the clock was taken down. The tower is listed as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
