About Prambanan

Prambanan, also known as Candi Prambanan or Rara Jonggrang, is a Hindu temple compound from the 9th century in southern Java, Indonesia, within the Special Region of Yogyakarta. It is dedicated to the Trimūrti, which presents God in three roles: Creator (Brahma), Preserver (Vishnu) and Destroyer (Shiva). The compound lies about 17 kilometers (11 mi) northeast of Yogyakarta, where Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces meet.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Prambanan has no larger Hindu temple site in Indonesia, and in Southeast Asia only Angkor Wat is a bigger Hindu temple site. Tall pointed architecture marks it, along with a towering central building 47 meters (154 ft) high amid many individual temples within a large complex. The compound originally included 240 temple structures, and it is regarded as a masterpiece from Indonesia's classical period.

The first building was finished in the mid-9th century. King Lokapala, successor to Rakai Pikatan, likely inaugurated it, and Pikatan probably began the work. According to the Shivagrha inscription (856 CE), the Shiva temple was inaugurated on November 12, 856. After roughly 80 years of use and expansion, the temples were abandoned around the middle of the 10th century, and they collapsed in a severe earthquake in the 16th century. The Dutch colonial government began reconstruction in 1918, proper restoration started in 1930, and the main Shiva temple's reconstruction was completed in 1953.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 13 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 16 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 21 mm 1:2,344

Stepped towers with tiny finials
Each tower rises in many small tiers topped by tiny finials. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print, ideally with 0.12–0.16 mm layers.
Three tall pointed towers
The tallest tower stands in the middle, with a smaller one on each side. Print slowly with good cooling so the narrow tips come out cleanly.
One piece with the ground
Prambanan is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Prambanan takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Prambanan is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Prambanan STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Prambanan grows with the print: about 13 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
