About Predjama Castle
Predjama Castle, a Renaissance castle, was built inside the mouth of a cave in south-central Slovenia, in what is historically the region of Inner Carniola. The village of Predjama, where it stands, is roughly 9 kilometers from Postojna Cave and 11 from the town of Postojna. The first mention of the castle dates to 1274, under the German name Luegg; the Patriarch of Aquileia built it in Gothic style, beneath a natural arch of rock high up the wall of stone, to make it hard to reach.
The Luegg noble family, who were also called the Knights of Adelsberg, later acquired and expanded the castle. Erasmus of Lueg, a knight and renowned robber baron, was its lord in the 15th century, and it became known as his seat. According to legend, Erasmus clashed with the Habsburgs after killing Marshal Pappenheim, commander of the imperial army. Fleeing the emperor's vengeance, he reached Predjama and attacked Habsburg estates and towns in Carniola. A popular but unfounded legend says he was betrayed and killed by a cannon shot in his lavatory.
Erasmus ordered a natural vertical shaft widened; it runs out of the original castle to an exit on top of the cliff, 25 meters back from the edge. During the siege it let him bring food into the castle in secret and keep up his robberies. A second castle, put up by the Purgstall family in the 16th century's first decade, was destroyed by an earthquake in 1511. In 1570 a new Renaissance castle was built against a vertical cliff, below the original medieval fortification.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Tall, thin supports
- Narrow walls run far down the cliff beneath the castle, making a tall, slim shape. Printing slowly with good cooling helps, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep it crisp.
- Small roofs and windows
- The castle has small pointed roofs and rows of small windows. Print friendly adapts them to your print scale; Full detail keeps them, best on a larger print.
- One piece with the ground
- Predjama Castle is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Predjama Castle takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions
Is there a Predjama Castle STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Predjama Castle grows with the print: about 31 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
