58 m of the Royal Basilica of Saint Francis the Great, 17 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A domed church reads best large
The basilica's defining form is its dome. At a small print size the curve and the facade lines lose definition, so choose a larger print and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm for the fine edges.
- One piece with the ground
The Royal Basilica of Saint Francis the Great is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Royal Basilica of Saint Francis the Great takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Royal Basilica of Saint Francis the Great
In the Palacio neighborhood of central Madrid stands San Francisco el Grande, a Roman Catholic basilica. Its main front looks onto the Plaza of San Francisco, on the corner of Bailén and the Gran Vía de San Francisco. The church belongs to the Franciscan convent of Jesús y María, which was founded in the 13th century on the site of a chapel. An earlier Franciscan convent stood where the basilica was later built; Charles III ordered it demolished so that a new convent could be built.
The church was designed in the Neoclassical style during the second half of the eighteenth century. Francisco Cabezas produced the original design, Antonio Pló developed it and Francesco Sabatini completed the work. Inside are paintings from the 17th to the 19th century, including a Zurbarán and a Goya, and the walls received paint in the 19th century. The church once served as the National pantheon and held remains of famous artists and political leaders.
The dome measures 33 meters (108 ft) across and stands 58 meters (190 ft) high. Its form is closer to a circle than most domes of the eighteenth century and resembles the dome of the Pantheon. It is reportedly Europe's fourth biggest dome, after the Pantheon and St. Peter's Basilica, as well as Florence Cathedral. The church became a minor basilica under John XXIII on February 2, 1963, and received designation as a national historic-artistic monument in 1980.
