170 m of the Spinnaker Tower, 46 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Open sail and slender spire
The sail is open between eight curved ribs, and the tower narrows to a long needle above the decks. Print friendly adapts the thin ribs; a large print and 0.12–0.16 mm layers keep the spire crisp.
- Three glass decks
The observation decks have projecting floor lips and fine glazing bars. Full detail keeps them; print slowly around the upper decks so the thin parts cool cleanly.
- One piece with the ground
The Spinnaker Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Spinnaker Tower takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Spinnaker Tower
The Spinnaker Tower rises 170 meters (560 ft) above Portsmouth, England, as a landmark observation tower. It anchors the redevelopment of Portsmouth Harbour, a project backed by a National Lottery grant. Portsmouth residents chose its design from three options in a 1998 public poll. The tower has three viewing platforms, one above the other, at 100, 105 and 110 meters. HGP Architects and the engineering consultants Scott Wilson designed it; Mowlem built it, with steelwork by Butterley Engineering. It opened on October 18, 2005.
Its shape represents sails billowing in the wind, made with two large white metal arcs that give it the spinnaker sail form. It is named after a spinnaker, the sail that balloons outward. At the top a triple observation deck gives a 360° view over the city, the Langstone and Portsmouth harbours, and out to a viewing distance of 37 kilometers (23 mi). Only wire mesh covers the top platform, the Sky Deck, while the first deck at 100 meters has a glass floor. The tower is designed to last 80 years.
Portsmouth's Millennium Tower was conceived in 1995 as a monument for the year 2000, with National Lottery funding and an intended opening in late 1999. In the 1998 poll, 9,476 votes were cast and 65% chose the Spinnaker design. Construction began in 2001 and finished in mid-2005, after delays and extra funding requests. The tower cost £35.6 million, and the council contributed £11.1 million. It was dedicated on October 16, 2005 and opened two days later.
About this model
The Spinnaker Tower is one of more than 4,900 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
