232 m of Torrespaña, 62 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Print the tall shaft slowly
The tower is a tall, thin form, so print it slowly with good cooling and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers to keep the shaft and top clean. A larger print helps the antenna read clearly.
- One piece with the ground
Torrespaña is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Torrespaña takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Torrespaña
Torrespaña is a concrete broadcasting tower in Madrid. It acts as the main hub for Spain's terrestrial television and radio networks, serving both the city and the wider metropolitan area. National and regional broadcasters feed their signals to it, and it passes them on to repeaters around the country. The tower sits in a dip in the Salamanca district, close to the M30 highway; the shaft carries eight floors and over four hundred antennas.
The tower was part of the infrastructure for the 1982 FIFA World Cup, when Televisión Española produced the official live television feed. Construction began on February 17, 1981, and finished in twelve months through a temporary partnership between Dragados and Agroman, at a cost of 350 million pesetas. The antenna brings the total to 232 m (761.15 ft), while the concrete shaft stands 220 m (721.78 ft). The tower and its companion production center were inaugurated on June 7, 1982.
The method of building it freestanding had never been tried before and was considered pioneering; the tower stands under its own weight. The tower is not open to the public, though its height gives panoramic views. It is popularly known as "El Pirulí", after a conical lollipop that was popular in the eighties.
