About the Victoria Memorial
In the Maidan of central Kolkata (Calcutta) stands the Victoria Memorial, a big marble monument entered from the Queen's Way. The British Raj built it between 1906 and 1921, and its public opening took place in December 1921. It commemorates Queen Victoria, who held the title Empress of India between 1876 and 1901. Among monuments to a monarch, it is the largest anywhere in the world.
William Emerson was the architect. The Indo-Saracenic design blends British and Mughal features and also draws on Venetian, Egyptian and Deccani architecture. The building measures 103 by 69 m (338 by 228 ft), rises to 56 m (184 ft) and is built of white Makrana marble. It echoes the Taj Mahal through high portals, octagonal-domed chattris, a terrace, domed corner towers and a dome with four subsidiaries. The central dome is topped by the Angel of Victory, a 4.9 m (16 ft) figure by Esch.
Lord Redesdale and David Prain designed the gardens, which spread over 26 hectares (64 acres). Inside, the memorial has 25 galleries, among them the royal gallery, the portrait gallery, an arms and armory gallery, a sculpture gallery and the newer Kolkata gallery. It holds the largest single collection of works by Thomas Daniell and his nephew William Daniell, and it operates as a museum run by India's Ministry of Culture.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 16 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 20 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Four small domed pavilions
- Open domed pavilions (chattris) sit on the corner towers, held up by thin supports. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print or a fine nozzle.
- A figure on the dome
- A small figure crowns the central dome. Printing slowly with layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps it from blurring.
- One piece with the ground
- The Victoria Memorial is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Victoria Memorial takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Victoria Memorial is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Victoria Memorial STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Victoria Memorial grows with the print: about 16 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
