About the Statue of Unity

With a height of 182 meters (597 ft), the Statue of Unity is the tallest statue in the world. It stands in the Narmada valley close to Kevadia in Gujarat state, India, and depicts Sardar Patel (1875–1950), an Indian politician and independence activist who served as India's first deputy prime minister and was also its home minister. Patel played a significant part in India's political integration. The statue stands on the Narmada River, facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) southeast of Vadodara.

Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar designed the statue, after historians, artists and academics serving on a selection team chose his submission. It was inaugurated on October 31, 2018, the 143rd anniversary of Patel's birth. Its total height is 240 m (790 ft), made up of a 58 m (190 ft) base and the 182 m (597 ft) statue. The figure's height was picked to equal the seat count of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, and it exceeds the earlier record holder, China's Spring Temple Buddha in Henan province, by 54 meters (177 ft).

The monument rises from a river island called Sadhu Bet. Its design shows Patel in a dhoti with sandaled feet, which leaves the statue narrower at the base, so two 250-metric-ton tuned mass dampers help keep it stable. Only three of its five zones are open to the public, and a viewing gallery at 153 m (502 ft) can hold up to 200 people. The bronze cladding was cast in a foundry in China, because facilities large enough were unavailable in India.

How it prints

Slow prints for slim legs
The figure is tall and narrow, standing on a wide platform. Printing slowly and giving each layer time to cool helps the slim legs and head hold their shape.
Face and clothing detail
The head and the folds of clothing are small features. A larger print or Full detail keeps them; layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep them crisp.
One piece with the ground
The Statue of Unity is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Statue of Unity takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there a Statue of Unity STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Statue of Unity grows with the print: about 55 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
