3 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Buttressed side walls
Eight tapered brick buttresses march along each windowless side wall beneath a kinked gable. Print friendly adapts the narrower caps; Full detail keeps their stepped profiles on a larger print.
- Closed sliding-door front
The front is a broad bank of closed sliding doors between paired masonry piers, with a clerestory strip above. Use 0.12–0.16 mm layers to keep the door divisions and light band crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Volkel Air Base historic hangar is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Volkel Air Base historic hangar takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Volkel Air Base historic hangar
The Volkel Air Base historic hangar is a brick aircraft hangar built in 1941–1942 by the firm Deisel of Bochum and Dusseldorf for the German Luftwaffe. It has a rectangular plan of over 43 by 28 meters and a gabled roof with a change in pitch. Both side elevations, north and south, are entirely blind and carry eight heavy brick buttresses.
Inside, a concrete floor runs beneath eight reinforced-concrete lattice trusses that span the width and rest on the buttresses. Steel wind bracing is set in the first, fourth and eighth bays, with timber purlins between the trusses. The register cites the hangar's military-historical value as a building from the occupation period 1940–1945 and as a rare German-built aircraft hangar on Dutch territory. A two-storey extension on the east side dates from 1954 and falls outside the protection.
