Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Giraffe roof supports

Eighteen supports stand clear of the bowl, each with a lattice neck and triangular head above a flat roof. Print friendly adapts the thin lattice; Full detail or a larger print keeps the necks and tension rods.

  2. Gap under the roof

The roof deck floats above the top of the seating, leaving a band of open air between them. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep that gap and the roof edge distinct.

  3. One piece with the ground

Mbombela Stadium is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Mbombela Stadium takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About Mbombela Stadium

Mbombela Stadium is an all-seater ground for football and rugby union in Mbombela, in South Africa's Mpumalanga province, and the largest venue in that province. It is home to the Pumas rugby team and to TS Galaxy of the Premiership. The 2010 FIFA World Cup used it as one of its 10 venues, and it was among the 5 stadiums built new for that tournament. Of its 43,500 seats almost all sit under roof.

The design takes its cues from the Kruger National Park nearby: 18 roof supports shaped like giraffes are its signature, and zebra stripes run across the seats. The bowl is the most compact arena of the 2010 venues, laid out with the aim of putting every seat as close to the field as practical, and the cantilever roof covers most of the seating. In its FIFA World Cup layout the ground held 40,929, regular seats having been given up to the media tribune.

Construction began in February 2007 and was complete in November 2009, the contract going to Bouygues and Basil Read Construction, working as a South African–French consortium; the R1,050-million facility drew all its funding from central government taxpayers, with nothing financed by the city. The building stands on 1,500 piles, with 18 under each giraffe support. A storm in January 2009 blew a tower crane through the partly finished roof; the site was empty and no one was hurt.

About this model

Mbombela Stadium is one of more than 4,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
