About 1 William Street

1 William Street, nicknamed the Tower of Power, is an office skyscraper at that address in the Brisbane CBD, Queensland, Australia, near Parliament House. Its height is 267 meters (876 ft). It is a modernist building, constructed for the Queensland Government as one element of a plan to renew its Government Administrative Precinct and to meet demand for accommodation. Cbus was named developer in December 2012, with a 99-year lease on the site.

Multiplex built the tower. Work began in early 2013, with the groundbreaking held on March 4, 2013, and the building was completed in 2016. From October 1, 2016, over 5,000 government staff moved in over six weekends, and the government took a guaranteed 15-year lease on 60,000 m2, or 650,000 sq ft, of the offices.

The 6,778 square meter site, or 72,960 sq ft, fills a city block bounded by William, Alice and Margaret streets and the Riverside Expressway, and served as a government parking lot from 1982 until 2013. The 2013 dig turned up 137 archeological features and roughly 600 artifacts from the 1850s to the 1900s. Its gross floor area is 119,977 m2, or 1,291,420 sq ft, with 318 parking spaces. Every floor has its own theme and color scheme, tied to a Queensland icon or to a natural phenomenon.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 71 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 89 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 114 mm 1:2,344

Sloping crown and thin mast
The oval tower ends in a sloped crown with a thin mast on top. Print slowly with good cooling, and use Print friendly to adapt the mast to the print scale.
Floor lines on a tall shaft
Fine horizontal lines mark the floors up the whole shaft. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp, and a larger print size keeps the bands distinct.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 1 William Street takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
