Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Slender tower, fine top

The tower rises as a long vertical shaft with a small top. Print at 200 mm or larger so the upper floors stay distinct, and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers for the vertical edges.

  2. Repeating window rhythm

The window rhythm repeats over many floors. Print friendly adapts the smallest facade details to the print scale; Full detail keeps them for a large print or a fine nozzle.

  3. One piece with the ground

300 North LaSalle is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 300 North LaSalle takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About 300 North LaSalle

300 North LaSalle rises 60 stories on Chicago's Near North Side, beside the Chicago River in Illinois. Builders put it up between 2006 and 2009. The building also contains 1.3 million square feet of space, with offices, shops, restaurants and public areas plus three levels of underground parking.

The riverside site allowed a half-acre public garden, open to sunlight and connected straight to the water's edge. Pickard Chilton designed the building, with Magnusson Klemencic Associates as its structural engineer. Cives Steel Co. fabricated and erected its structural steel, and Maine Detailers, a division of Cives, handled the detailing.

The tower earned Platinum certification for Existing Buildings from the U.S. Green Building Council, under its LEED program, the top rating available. An earlier Gold certification came under LEED for Core & Shell. The building left the Hines companies in 2010 and passed to KBS REIT II and then to The Irvine Company in 2014.
