About the Amazon Theatre
The Amazon Theatre (Teatro Amazonas) is an opera house in Manaus, Brazil. The annual Festival Amazonas de Ópera takes place there, and the Amazonas Philharmonic Orchestra, which is based in the building, rehearses and performs in it. The opera house dates from the Belle Époque, a time of rubber-boom fortunes, and stands for the city's heyday. Vogue picked it as one of the world's most beautiful opera houses.
In 1881, Antonio Jose Fernandes Júnior, then in the local House of Representatives, first proposed building it, imagining a jewel at the heart of the Amazon rainforest. After a competition for plans, a project from the Lisbon office Gabinete Português de Engenharia e Arquitectura was chosen. Construction was ready to start by 1884 under the Italian architect Celestial Sacardim, and it moved slowly, with stops and restarts. The opera house was inaugurated on December 31, 1896, and Ponchielli's La Gioconda was staged on January 7, 1897, as the first performance.
The style is usually described as Renaissance Revival. The building drew on distant sources: roofing tiles from Alsace, steel walls from Glasgow, and Carrara marble from Italy for the stairs, statues and columns. The dome carries 36,000 decorated ceramic tiles in the colors of Brazil's flag. Inside, the auditorium seats 701 people, and 198 chandeliers hang in the building, 32 of them Murano glass.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 10 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 12 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Ribbed dome and finial
- The dome has fine ribs, a ring of small openings at its base and a thin finial on top. Print friendly adapts these to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print.
- Rows of arched windows
- Small arched windows and columns run along the facades. At this small scale a layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps them crisp, and a larger print keeps more of them.
- One piece with the ground
- The Amazon Theatre is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Amazon Theatre takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Amazon Theatre is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there an Amazon Theatre STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Amazon Theatre grows with the print: about 10 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
