7 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A narrow slice of a city block
The church is thin and wedged into a terrace of houses, so most of the model is the surrounding block. Print larger than desk size, or choose Full detail, to keep the church itself readable.
- Facade in a tight street
The church front bows out into a narrow street and sits flush with the houses on either side. Print friendly adapts thin walls and small details to the print scale; 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers keep the vertical edges crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Asam Church, Munich is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Asam Church, Munich takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Asam Church, Munich
The Asam Church, properly St. Johann Nepomuk, is a Baroque church in Munich, in Bavaria, Germany. The sculptor Egid Quirin Asam and the painter Cosmas Damian Asam, a pair of brothers, put it up between 1733 and 1746 as a private chapel rather than on a commission, which let them build to their own ideas as independent contractors. It is counted among the leading works of southern Germany's Late Baroque. Its facade sits inside the row of houses on Sendlingerstraße and curves slightly outward toward the street.
The property measures just 22 by 8 m, and the two builders fitted architecture, painting and sculpture together in a two-story space. Inside, the church is split vertically into three sections that grow brighter as they rise: the benches at the lowest level stay dark, the middle section is white and blue and was reserved for the emperor, and the hidden-lit ceiling painting at the top is given to God and eternity. Four spiral columns frame the high altar, and seven confessionals with allegorical scenes fill the church, which was designed as a confession church for the young.
The ceiling fresco, on the life of Saint Nepomuk, is held to be a masterpiece of Cosmas Damian Asam's, and Egid Quirin had a window in his own house beside the church that looked straight at the altar. In 1944 a bomb attack badly damaged the choir, and the restoration carried out between 1975 and 1983 followed source study to bring back a hypothetical original appearance. Public pressure forced the brothers to open the chapel to the public, and the northern house they bought became a priest's residence with a rococo facade.
