About Bamberg Cathedral

Bamberg Cathedral, known in German as the Bamberger Dom, stands in Bamberg, Germany. It is the seat of the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Bamberg, and it was completed in the 13th century. Since 1993 it has belonged to the UNESCO World Heritage Site called "Town of Bamberg".

King Heinrich II (Henry II), who later became emperor, founded the cathedral in 1002, and it was consecrated in 1012. Fires destroyed the first two cathedrals, in the 11th and 12th centuries, and the present structure is late Romanesque and has four large towers. Henry II and Cunigunde, his wife, are buried there, and they are the only imperial couple ever canonized. Pope Clement II (1005–1047) is buried there as well, in the only papal grave found in Germany, or anywhere north of the Alps.

Its length is about 94 m (308 ft). It is 28 m (92 ft) broad and 26 m (85 ft) high, with four towers that each reach about 81 m (266 ft). Among its works of art is the marble tomb of Henry II and Cunigunde, carved between 1499 and 1513 and regarded as a masterpiece by the sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider. Another treasure is the equestrian statue called the Bamberg Horseman (Der Bamberger Reiter).

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale

Four tall, thin spires
Each of the four towers ends in a tall, thin spire. Print friendly adapts thin tips to the print scale, and a layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm with slow printing keeps them crisp.
Arched windows and roof details
The towers are lined with rows of small arched windows, and the roofs carry small raised details. A larger print size or Full detail keeps more of them.
One piece with the ground
Bamberg Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Bamberg Cathedral takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there a Bamberg Cathedral STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Bamberg Cathedral grows with the print: about 21 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?
