About Bank of America Plaza
Nicknamed the pencil building, Bank of America Plaza is a supertall tower in Atlanta, Georgia, located between Midtown Atlanta and Downtown Atlanta. Its height is 312 meters (1,023 feet), it holds 55 office stories, and it was finished in 1992 as NationsBank Plaza. It overtook One Atlantic Center, a 250-meter (820-foot) tower of 50 stories, as Georgia's tallest building. Citizens & Southern National Bank originally intended it as its headquarters, but it passed to NationsBank, a bank created in a hostile 1991 bid in which NCNB took over C&S/Sovran.
Cousins Properties was the developer, and Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates designed the tower. Its Postmodern design recalls Art Deco. The tower was put up in 14 months, which counts among the quickest schedules for a 300 m (1,000 ft) building. Vertical lines reinforce its height while creating many corner offices, and its dark exterior adds to its imposing presence. Outside New York City and Chicago, no building in the country was taller when it was finished.
A spire 27 m (90 ft) tall tops the building, resembling an obelisk and echoing the tower's overall shape, and gold leaf of 23 karat (96 percent) covers most of it. Beneath it, an open-lattice steel pyramid of gilded girders glows yellow-orange at night under lighting. The tower is turned 45 degrees from the city's street grid and is set back 45 m (over 50 yards) from Peachtree Street and West Peachtree Street.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Lattice pyramid and spire
- The top holds an open lattice pyramid with a thin spire above it. Print friendly adapts thin parts like these to your print scale; Full detail keeps them, best printed slowly with good cooling and 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers.
- Fine vertical ribs
- Narrow vertical ribs run the full height of the shaft. A larger print keeps them easier to read.
- One piece with the ground
- Bank of America Plaza is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Bank of America Plaza takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
