15 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Twin towers and dome
The two front towers and the domed crossing carry the finest vertical detail. On a small print, Print friendly adapts thin parts; a larger print or a 0.12–0.16 mm layer height keeps them crisp.
- Rose window and gable
The rose window and gable sculpture sit close together on the facade. Full detail suits a large print with a fine nozzle; at small sizes Print friendly keeps the front readable.
- One piece with the ground
The Basilica of Saint Nicholas, Amsterdam is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Basilica of Saint Nicholas, Amsterdam takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, Amsterdam
The Basilica of Saint Nicholas stands in Amsterdam's Old Centre, close to the city's main railway station, between Prins Hendrikkade and the Oudezijds Kolk canal. Both the church and the city claim Saint Nicholas as their patron, and the building is Amsterdam's primary Roman Catholic church. It was originally called St. Nicholas inside the Walls, a reference to its position within the old city defenses.
Architect Adrianus Bleijs designed the church in a mix of revival styles, chiefly Neo-Baroque and Neo-Renaissance, and construction was completed in 1887. The main facade has two flanking towers with a rose window between them; a bas-relief of Christ and the four Evangelists sits at the center of the window. A statue of Saint Nicholas, made by Bart van Hove, occupies a niche near the top of the gable.
At the crossing, a large octagonal tower rises to a Baroque-style dome, with a lantern and cross on top. The plan is a classic cross-basilica with three aisles: a nave, two side aisles and one transept, and chapels dedicated to Mary and Joseph sit at the southeast ends of the side aisles. Inside, four levels of stained glass encircle the dome, and an 1889 Sauer organ stands above the main entrance.
