About Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec
Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) is a Quebec government body that oversees national archives, a national library and the province's legal deposit system. It is based at the Grande Bibliothèque in Montreal. Two mergers formed it. The Bibliothèque nationale du Québec first joined, in 2002, the Grande Bibliothèque du Québec, and in 2006 combined with the Archives nationales du Québec.
In 1997 the plan for a Grande Bibliothèque took shape, aiming at wide access to materials held by the Montreal Public Libraries Network and by the Bibliothèque nationale du Québec. Builders worked downtown from 2001 until 2004. Collections went onto the shelves in the fall of 2004. On April 29, 2005, the Grande Bibliothèque was formally inaugurated, and it began operating on May 3, 2005.
The Grande Bibliothèque is BAnQ's flagship library, in Montreal's Quartier Latin. Its design aims to encourage exploring and discovering the collections, with free and open access. Each of its six levels fosters a different atmosphere. Materials from the universal collection can be borrowed, but rarer items, including most of the legal deposit collection, are read on site. Legal deposit copies of everything printed in Quebec are part of the library's holdings.
About this model
Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec is one of more than 5,500 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Each model is written as code from public descriptions, plans, photographs and aerial views used only as references; no image or third-party model is copied into it. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. Rights in the building itself, its name and any brands on it are not granted by Mini Skyline; clear them separately before you sell prints. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
