About the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health

Frank Gehry designed this Las Vegas center, which the Cleveland Clinic operates, and it opened on May 21, 2010. It is an outpatient facility for neurology, devoted to research, treatment of patients and education on brain disorders. The center focuses mainly on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, on multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunological disorders, and on movement disorders, including Parkinson's and Huntington's disease.

Larry Ruvo founded Keep Memory Alive with others in memory of Lou Ruvo, his father, who was a victim of Alzheimer's disease. The charity supports the mission of the center and ranks among the most important charity initiatives in Las Vegas. The ceremonial groundbreaking took place on February 9, 2007, for a $70 million project.

Gehry's design was described as "riotously sculptural"; its opposing sections allude to the left-brain, right-brain dichotomy. Others saw modern architecture unmoored from aesthetics in it. The City of Las Vegas deeded the land, in downtown Las Vegas, to Keep Memory Alive as part of the 25 ha (61 acres) Symphony Park. The center covers approximately 6,000 m2 (65,000 sq ft). Inside are 13 examination rooms, a community auditorium, a "Museum of the Mind", and offices for researchers and for health care practitioners.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Thin curved frames
Slender curved frames and ribs rise above the stacked blocks. Print friendly adapts these thin parts to the print scale; Full detail and a larger print keep more of them.
Smooth curved surfaces
The twisting curved forms show layer lines easily. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep the curves smooth, and a larger print size helps.
One piece with the ground
The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
