About the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum
Brandon, Manitoba, is home to the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, an aviation museum at Brandon Municipal Airport. It honors the memory of the airmen who trained across Canada at air stations of the Second World War under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
Visitors find several aircraft from World War II, a gift shop, assorted artifacts, and displays of equipment used for navigation, by pilots, by bombardiers, by ground crews and in transport. A memorial to Canadian airmen who died in World War II was unveiled by the museum in 2014, and in 2022 it shut temporarily while its hangar was structurally repaired.
It has an entry in Canada's register of historic places. It has been recognized as a municipal heritage site in Brandon since August 28, 2000, a national historic site of Canada since June 15, 2001, and a provincial heritage site since 2003.
