Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Westwork and adjoining church

The octagonal westwork and the attached church add many small roof shapes. Print friendly adapts thin parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print. Try 0.12–0.16 mm layers.

  2. One piece with the ground

Essen Minster is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Essen Minster takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About Essen Minster

Essen Minster, also called Essen Cathedral since 1958, serves as the seat of the Catholic bishop of Essen, whose diocese is known as the "Diocese of the Ruhr". Its dedication is to Saints Cosmas and Damian and to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and it stands on the Burgplatz in the center of Essen, Germany. Before 1803 it served as the church of the abbey at Essen, a community of secular canonesses that Altfrid, Bishop of Hildesheim, founded in about 845; the city grew up around it.

The present Gothic hall church dates from after 1275 and is made of pale sandstone; it was rebuilt following its destruction in World War II. The octagonal westwork and the crypt survive from a pre-Romanesque Ottonian building that stood on the site earlier. It is the third church building there; the first was raised between 845 and 870. A separate church, St. Johann Baptist, sits at the west end and is linked to the westwork through a short atrium; to the north lies a cloister that formerly served the abbey.

The Golden Madonna in its treasury is the oldest Marian figure north of the Alps that is fully sculptural. In 1803 the Kingdom of Prussia mediatised Essen Abbey, and the parish of St. Johann Baptist took over the minster. It became a cathedral when the bishopric was formed in 1958. Pope John Paul II came to the minster in 1987, which marked the high point of its thousand-year history.
