3 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Ornate front, plain sides
The decorated front is tiny compared with the long, plain brick sides. Full detail keeps its carving, but a larger print size makes the biggest difference.
- Small rooftop cupola
A small pyramid-roofed cupola sits at the front of the roof. Print friendly adapts small details to your print scale, and a layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps them crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Excelsior Engine Co. No. 2 Firehouse is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Excelsior Engine Co. No. 2 Firehouse takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Excelsior Engine Co. No. 2 Firehouse
Built in 1897 in the Hudson County town of West New York, New Jersey, this former fire station at 6106 Polk Street is Excelsior Engine Co. No. 2 Firehouse. It later served as the headquarters of the Exempt Firemen Association. Architect Robert C. Dixon Jr. designed the two-story brick building in the Romanesque Revival style for the town's volunteer fire company, Excelsior Engine Company No. 2, and the design included Corinthian capitals made of terra cotta.
On October 23, 1897, a banquet and a parade marked its completion. The town replaced its volunteer fire companies with paid ones in 1915, after which the station was seen as obsolete for motorized engines. By 1916 West New York's Association of Exempt Firemen had taken over the building as its headquarters, and in 1923 it engaged William Mayer Jr., an architect, to expand and renovate it.
The National Register of Historic Places added the building on August 12, 2022, recognizing its importance for architecture and for social history. Preservation New Jersey had listed it in 2017 among the 10 most endangered historic places in the state.
