About the Guadalajara Cathedral
The Guadalajara Cathedral stands in Centro, Guadalajara, Jalisco. It is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guadalajara and holds the rank of minor basilica. It is counted among the oldest cathedrals in the Americas. Most of it is late Renaissance work in the Spanish Renaissance style, while the neo-Gothic spires were built in the 19th century.
A first cathedral was raised in 1541 from adobe with a thatched roof, and the region became a diocese in 1548. On May 30, 1574, shots fired into the air during Mass started a fire that badly damaged it. Master architect Martín Casillas designed a replacement, which moved slowly because of scarce funds and was completed in February 1618. An earthquake in 1818 brought down the towers and dome, and the replacements fell in 1849. Manuel Gómez Ibarra designed the present towers, covered in yellow and blue Talavera-style mosaics, built between July 30, 1851 and July 15, 1854.
The cathedral occupies 77.8 x 72.75 meters, around 5,660 square meters in total. Its plan is that of a basilica, with three naves split into 6 sections by columns, and it is built using adobe, yellow quarry stone and tezontle, a red volcanic rock. The tower bases are square, with four pinnacles leading up to conical tops crowned with Greek crosses.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Pointed spires and pinnacles
- Two tall pointed spires and small pinnacles along the roofline are the most delicate parts. Print slowly with good cooling, and use Print friendly so they adapt to the print scale.
- Ribbed dome with a lantern
- The dome carries ribs, small windows and a lantern with a cross. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep the curve smooth, and Full detail suits a larger print.
- One piece with the ground
- The Guadalajara Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Guadalajara Cathedral takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
