Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Keep the facade crisp

A broad building like this has a lot of wall and roofline to resolve. A larger print or the Full detail setting keeps those edges from softening.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Hotel New York is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Hotel New York takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Hotel New York

Rotterdam's Hotel New York occupies the old office building of Holland America Line, or Nederlandsch Amerikaansche Stoomvaart Maatschappij (NASM). In the late 19th and the early 20th centuries the building served as temporary lodging for European emigres heading overseas. Flying later replaced the Rotterdam–New York sailings. By the 1980s it stood derelict, and squatters moved in during 1988. Hans Loos and Daan van der Have, both entrepreneurs, worked with designer Dorine de Vos on a plan to turn it into a hotel. Rebuilding took several years, and the hotel opened in 1993. WestCord Hotels has run it since 2006 and also owns the 1950s NASM flagship SS Rotterdam.

The hotel sits in the Kop van Zuid neighborhood and has held national heritage status since 2000. Anouk, a Dutch singer, wrote her album Hotel New York there, and the album took the hotel's name. In the emigre years, package deals often combined a train ticket with lodging and an ocean crossing.
