Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Curved wings and edges

The three curved wings have long, smooth outer walls that show layer lines clearly. Use 0.12–0.16 mm layers and print slowly, so the curves and vertical edges stay clean.

  2. Thin wing tips

The ends of the three wings are the narrowest parts of the plan. Print friendly adapts them at small sizes; a larger print keeps the Y-shaped outline sharp.

  3. One piece with the ground

Lake Point Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Lake Point Tower takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About Lake Point Tower

Lake Point Tower, a residential skyscraper in Chicago, stands on a promontory by Lake Michigan at 505 North Lake Shore Drive, north of the Chicago River. Finished in 1968, the building has a curving, three-wing shape and stands in Streeterville on the Near North Side, next to Navy Pier. It is the only skyscraper in the city east of Lake Shore Drive.

John Heinrich and George Schipporeit were the architects, practicing as Schipporeit and Heinrich. Both had studied under Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a leading figure of the Bauhaus and International Style who taught at Chicago's Illinois Institute of Technology. William F. Hartnett, Jr., who chaired and founded Hartnett-Shaw Development Company, was the developer. At about 197 m (645 ft), it was then the world's tallest apartment building.

A triangular core 59 feet wide carries the building's vertical weight and holds nine elevators and three stairwells, which let the perimeter columns be much smaller. Three arms radiate from that core in an asymmetrical Y-shaped plan, their outer walls curved to give apartments more varied views. Among high-rise apartment buildings, it was an early user of all-electric appliances, and its private park, the first in a major-city residential complex, sits three stories above ground with a playground, a pool, a duck pond and waterfalls.
