Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. A very small building

Lookout Studio is small, so print size matters: a larger print keeps the windows, the chimney and the little tower.

  2. Stonework bumps on the walls

Rows of rounded stones stand out from the walls. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print, ideally with 0.12–0.16 mm layers.

  3. One piece with the ground

Lookout Studio is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Lookout Studio takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About Lookout Studio

The Lookout, or Lookout Studio, is built of stone at the Grand Canyon's South Rim, inside Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. The Santa Fe Railway built it in 1914 as a photography studio, intended to rival Kolb Studio. Inside are a gift shop and an observation station, and telescopes stand on the outdoor terrace.

Of the six Grand Canyon buildings that Mary Colter designed, this is one; the others are Desert View Watchtower, Phantom Ranch, Hopi House, Hermit's Rest and Bright Angel Lodge. It follows her signature rustic style, using jagged native rocks so that it echoes the region's indigenous buildings and fits into its setting. It has belonged to the National Historic Landmark group of Mary Jane Colter Buildings since May 28, 1987, and it also lies within the Grand Canyon Village Historic District.

The building, made of rubble stone, stands right at the canyon's edge. An irregular parapet tops the walls and takes in the chimneys. It has three levels: a lower viewing platform, a small observation tower, and a main level with a shop and an enclosed viewing area. Wooden vigas are still visible in the roof structure, and banks of large windows give it more light than is usual for a Colter building. Before the roof was replaced, a pile of stones on top was meant to look like ruins.

About this model

Lookout Studio is one of more than 4,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
