About Madison Square Park Tower

Madison Square Park Tower, formerly 45 East 22nd Street, was completed in 2017 as a skyscraper. It stands between Broadway and Park Avenue South, within Manhattan's Flatiron District. Kohn Pedersen Fox designed it with Goldstein, Hill & West Architects, and Ian Bruce Eichner's Continuum Company developed it. It was the second skyscraper built on its block, after One Madison. Martin Brudnizki Design Studio designed the interiors of its 83 condominiums.

The base is granite, chosen to echo other buildings in the Flatiron District. A cantilevered tower rises above it and grows wider the higher it goes. DeSimone Consulting Engineers handled the structure, which uses slabs and columns of cast-in-place concrete, plus shear wall cores that resist lateral loads. At the roof, a tuned mass damper weighing 540 thousand kilograms (1.2 million pounds) relies on viscous liquid and steel plates to reduce the building's movement in wind.

Amenities include a fitness center spread over levels two to four, with a basketball court and a golf studio, along with a playroom for children, a library and, on the fifty fourth floor, a club that has its own private dining room. Demolition of the buildings on the lot began in April 2014 and was done by July 2014.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

A very tall, slim tower
The tower is slender for its height. Print slowly with good cooling, and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers to keep the long vertical edges clean.
Widening upper floors
The shaft leans outward toward the top, with a fine grid of windows. A bigger print or Full detail keeps that grid readable.
One piece with the ground
Madison Square Park Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Madison Square Park Tower takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
