7 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A ring of slender arches
A ring of thin columns and arches surrounds the central structure. Print friendly adapts these slender parts to the print scale; a larger print or Full detail keeps more of them.
- Small subject, large setting
The modeled landmark is small beside the big masses around it, so choose a larger print size to keep its details visible and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers.
- One piece with the ground
Masjid al-Haram is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Masjid al-Haram takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Masjid al-Haram
Masjid al-Haram, the Sacred Mosque, is also called the Great Mosque of Mecca. It stands in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and is regarded as Islam's holiest and most important mosque. Together with the Quba Mosque in Medina it is counted among the oldest mosques in Islam. In the view of Islamic scholars, Abraham built the Kaaba in Mecca and, as a result, its sanctuary, which in the Muslim view was the first mosque that ever existed.
The mosque encloses the area around the Kaaba. It is among the pilgrimage sites linked to the Hajj, which orthodox Islamic belief requires every Muslim to perform at least once in life if able, and it is the main site for ʿUmrah, a lesser pilgrimage that may be made at any time of year. Both pilgrimages include walking around the Kaaba inside the mosque. Other important places within the mosque include the hills of Safa and Marwa, Maqam Ibrahim, the Zamzam Well and the Black Stone.
The mosque has been renovated and expanded many times. Caliph Umar enlarged it in 637 CE, and the first major renovation of the mosque, ordered by Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, followed the Umayyad reconquest of Mecca in 692. In 1570 Sultan Selim II had the architect Mimar Sinan renovate it, replacing the flat roof with domes. The Saudi kings' first major renovation ran from 1955 to 1976, and a second expansion under King Fahd was carried out between 1986 and 1994. Control of the mosque has passed through various caliphs, sultans and kings, and the Saudi king has also been styled Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
