About Mineirão

Mineirão is the nickname of Belo Horizonte's big football stadium. The name means 'Big Mineiro' and refers to its large structure, while the official name is Governor Magalhães Pinto Stadium (Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto). The state of Minas Gerais owns it. It hosted games at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and earlier at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, and some football matches of the 2016 Summer Olympics took place there as well. It seats 66,658 spectators.

The idea of a large stadium predates its opening by more than 25 years. A modest movement of managers, entrepreneurs, athletes and journalists began in the 1940s, hoping for a field in Belo Horizonte that matched the progress of Minas Gerais football. The three top teams in the state capital had stadiums of their own, but these were small and uncomfortable, and none held more than 10,000 spectators. Funding was to come from the State Lottery, with 10% of ticket sales earmarked for a stadium fund, and work began in 1959.

Eduardo Mendes Guimarães Júnior was among the architects, Arthur Eugênio Jermann prepared the structural design, and Gil César Moreira de Abreu directed construction. Roughly 5,000 workers were on the job from 1963 until the inauguration on September 5, 1965. The superstructure's shape is a pseudo-ellipse measuring 275 m (902 ft) along its long axis and 217 m (712 ft) along its short one. To test the design, the builders made a mini-Mineirão, a section of stands and roof. The stadium cost about US$10 million.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 650 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 9 mm 1:4,063
200 mm 11 mm 1:3,250
256 mm 14 mm 1:2,539

Ring of slim fins
Dozens of slim fins fan out around the roof edge. Print friendly adapts thin parts like these to your print scale; Full detail keeps them, best printed slowly with good cooling and 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers.
Wide flat ring roof
The flat ring roof overhangs the stands, and fine pitch lines show inside it. A larger print keeps these lines easier to read.
One piece with the ground
Mineirão is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Mineirão takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Mineirão is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Mineirão STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Mineirão grows with the print: about 9 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
