About Palácio do Planalto
The Palácio do Planalto in Brasília is the president of Brazil's official place of work, and every Brazilian president since Juscelino Kubitschek has worked there. Oscar Niemeyer designed it in 1958, and Kubitschek inaugurated it on April 21, 1960, among the first buildings opened in the new capital, alongside the National Congress building and the Supreme Federal Court. It stands at the Three Powers Plaza, east of the National Congress and opposite the Supreme Federal Court. Its name comes from the Brazilian Central Plateau, since planalto means highland.
Niemeyer wanted the palace to look simple and modern, and shaped the columns and outer structures from fine lines and waves. Those columns vary the design of the ones at the Palácio da Alvorada, which serves as the official residence, but run across the width of the building instead of along it. Two strong elements shape the facade: the ramp up to the hall, and the parlatorium, a speaker's platform where the president and visiting heads of state can speak to the public in the plaza.
A reflecting pool added in 1991 increases security around the palace and balances humidity during Brasília's long dry season. It covers about 1,635 square meters (17,600 ft2), is 110 centimeters (3.6 ft) deep, and is home to Japanese carp. The palace's area is 36,000 square meters (390,000 ft2), spread over four floors above ground and one underground. A restoration finished on August 24, 2010 cost R$ 111 million. UNESCO designated the Brasília World Heritage Site in 1987, and the modernist palace is part of it.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 7 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 9 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Slim columns under a wide roof
- A broad flat roof rests on slim curved columns. Print slowly, and pick a larger print size so the columns stay thicker and sturdier; Print friendly adapts the thinnest ones to the print scale.
- Slots in the flat roof
- The roof carries narrow slots. A larger print size and 0.12–0.16 mm layers keep them crisp, and Full detail keeps every one.
- One piece with the ground
- Palácio do Planalto is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Palácio do Planalto takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Palácio do Planalto is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Palácio do Planalto STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Palácio do Planalto grows with the print: about 7 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
